For the entrance to the territory of Russian Federation a foreign citizen needs valid passport, visa and medical insurance policy.
VISA
In order to enter Russia all foreign visitors need a Russian visa.
The visas may be granted in diplomatic representatives and in consulates of Russian Federation by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Internal Affairs and the local authorities of Russia.
A tourist visa has the maximum validity of 30 days and this visa is the simplest option to enter Russia.
In order to obtain such a visa you need an invitation, which can be sent to you by a russian citizen, a foreign citizen with permanent residence in Russia, a hotel or a travel bureau.
For a longer stay, a business is recommended. The validity of business visa is from 1 to 12 months. Under some circumstances you must wait more weeks to obtain a business visa).

CUSTOM
At the custom-house you need a custom declaration if you import or export with you medicines, weapons or big sum of money in cash (more than $ 3.000). If you have no such things, you can go through the exit makert with green. Passing the custom-house, you must fill in the immigration card and hold it with you during your stay in Russia.
MEDICAL INSURANCE
Every foreign visitor staying temporarily on the territory of the Russian Federation must have an insurance policy for the case of the emergency medical care. You can arrange it in any licensed insurance company. Unless the foreign visitor has such a policy, the cost of all medical service he will reimburse by himself.
REGISTRATION IN MOSCOW
When you enter into the Russian Federation (without tourist or business visa) you will get the immigration card (in the airplane or at the airport). You must fill it in and register yourself within three working days after your arrival. The registration can be made by the hotel or by the travel bureau, or by the person who has invited you.
